Byington Branches

According to Stacey Byington (be certain to check out her FTM website) the Byington surname comes from an Englishman named Boynton whose name was misspelled on a document -- it was easier to use Byington than to make the correction. Stacey has undoubtedly the best Byington collection on the web.

A lot of thanks goes to Helen Trager for her book, 'THE SCHOOL HOUSE AT PINE TREE CORNER' North Salem, New York 1784-1916 Published for the North Salem Historical Society by Harbor Hill Books in 1976. The historical research on the schools provided a great deal of information on Westchester inhabitants.
